This course is designed for Federal managers/employees who participate in their organization's Internal Control processes and need to become familiar with the laws, standards, and requirements affiliated with the Federal Internal Controls process.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Understand importance of OMB Circular A-123, Management’s Responsibility for Internal Controls
Identify the various participants’ roles and responsibilities in the Internal Control process
Describe the various Internal Control standards
Discuss “why” and “how” agencies should build an integrated Internal Control framework
Developing strategies for implementing and/or reengineering programs and operations that manages and promotes accountability
Identify important “tools” and “assessments” to build an effective program.
Discuss importance of assessing Internal Controls
Outline managers’ responsibilities when Internal Control deficiencies exists and how to take corrective actions
Root Cause Analysis
Identify Internal Control reporting requirements.
Linkage to Performance Assessment Report (PAR)
Understand how to establish and assess management controls
Identify OMB Circular A-123 Appendix A, B, C, and D purpose and objectives
Prerequisites:
Supervisory discretion - Intermediate level
